How to connect multiple Gmail and Slack accounts to Claude or ChatGPT

The most common question we get from clients, answered start to finish: one front door, every account behind it, read-only until you trust it.

To connect more than one Gmail or Slack account to Claude or ChatGPT, use Composio as a single front door. You connect the AI to Composio once as a custom connector, then authorize each additional account through Composio. Start with read and search access only, so nothing can be changed while you test it.

Why the built-in connector runs out of room

This is the number one question we get from clients, and it always sounds the same: I have a bunch of Gmail accounts and a bunch of Slack workspaces. How do I connect them all?

Most people have two personal email addresses, one for the main business, and one for whatever they started on the side. The native connector in Claude or ChatGPT hooks up one of them. So the assistant ends up with a confident, complete-looking view of about a quarter of your life, which is worse than no view at all, because you stop double-checking it.

One front door instead of many keys

The fix is to stop connecting accounts directly and put one layer in between. We use Composio for this. Think of it as the front door: your AI gets connected to Composio once, and every account you own sits behind that door.

That inversion is what makes it scale. Adding a tenth Gmail account is not a new integration project, it is one more authorization behind a door that is already open. Same for a fifth Slack workspace, a second Stripe account, or multiple GoHighLevel logins.

The setup, step by step

  • Create a free Composio account. Signing in with Google is the fastest path.
  • Copy the Composio connector URL.
  • In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste it. Name it something you will actually say out loud later, like Composio or multiple connections.
  • Re-authenticate and allow access. This step only connects your AI to Composio, not yet to any of your accounts.
  • Ask it plainly: Use Composio to connect my Gmail and Slack accounts, and start with read and search use cases only.
  • It returns an authorization link per account. Connect the accounts that are not already connected natively, then repeat for every remaining inbox and workspace.

Start read-only, always

Notice the phrasing in that prompt: read and search use cases only. That is deliberate. On the first pass you want the assistant reading across everything and writing nothing. It cannot send an email, cannot post in a channel, cannot alter a record.

You get the entire upside of full context with none of the risk of an early mistake, and you can watch how it behaves before you hand over anything that touches the outside world. It is the same rule we apply on every client build: least access that does the job, and write access only where someone decided it should exist.

What changes once it can see everything

The difference is not that the AI gets smarter. It is that it stops guessing. Ask it what happened with a client this month and it can actually read the thread in the work inbox, the Slack channel where the real decision got made, and the invoice in Stripe, instead of confidently answering from the one account it happened to have.

That is the whole point of connecting the accounts: context beats cleverness. A model with partial context writes a plausible answer. A model with full context writes the correct one.

The short version

  • Native connectors handle one account. Most owners have four or more.
  • Use one integration layer as the front door, then authorize every account behind it.
  • Ask for read and search only on the first pass, so it can see everything and change nothing.
  • Adding the next account becomes an authorization, not a project.

Questions this raises

Is it safe to connect all of my email accounts to an AI?
It is if you scope it. Connecting with read and search permissions means the assistant can look but cannot send, delete, or edit anything. Add write access later, one workflow at a time, and only where you have decided it belongs.

Does this work with ChatGPT as well as Claude?
Yes. The front-door approach is not specific to one assistant. The setup screens differ slightly, but the pattern is the same: connect the assistant to the integration layer once, then authorize each account behind it.

What else can I connect the same way?
Anything you have more than one of. Multiple Slack workspaces, several Stripe accounts, multiple CRM logins. If you own five of something, you connect the door once and the five behind it.
